Privacy policy
ValidShop has no accounts and no advertising. This page explains the little data we do handle. Last updated 11 January 2026.
Who is responsible
ValidShop, available at validshop.org. You can reach us through the contact form, which is also where to send any request about your data.
What we handle
Store checks. When you search for a web shop, we read that shop's public pages and save the result: the domain, the score, the findings and the date. This is information about a business website, not about you. We do not save who asked for a check.
Messages. If you use the contact form we save your name, email address, the message and, if you gave one, the store address. We use them to answer you. We delete a conversation twelve months after it has ended.
Technical data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses. To stop abuse we count requests per IP address for a short time, in memory only. Those counts are not written to our database.
Visitor statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are visited. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of individual visitors.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- We do not sell or share your data for marketing.
- We do not ask you to create an account.
Why we are allowed to
We handle messages because you asked us something and we need to answer. We keep check results and basic statistics because they are needed to run the service and keep it secure, and because the information is public to begin with.
Who else handles data
We run on a small number of providers: Vercel for hosting and visitor statistics, and Neon for the database. They process data only on our behalf, to run the service.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. If you are in the EU or UK you can also object to how we use it, and you can complain to your national data protection authority. Send your request through the contact form and use the email address you wrote to us from, so that we can find your messages.
If you own a store we have scored
A store page contains public information about a business. You can ask us to correct it, or to remove it, from the contact form. You can also keep us from scanning your site at all by blocking ValidShopBot, as described here.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we update this page and the date at the top. The data practices described here are the ones in use today.
